South Florida Connects, Inc. (SFC) is a faith based not for profit, all voluntary, community outreach and advocacy organization dedicated to helping immigrant straight spouses, and their families, in South Florida, the USA and the wider community in the Caribbean, including Jamaica, to navigate the difficulty of mixed orientation relationships.
Connecting The Down Low Clues, operates under the umbrella organization, South Florida Connects, (SFC). OUR MISSION: SFC’s Mission is to use " No Straight Spouse Left Behind: Straight Spouse Awareness" to provide awareness education, affirmation, validation, confirmation, support, and empowerment to straight spouses, their families and friends everywhere. The SFC Vision: Is to have a community where people help each other navigate difficult life circumstances, by assisting each other whether with time and professional resources, or through financial contributions where necessary, and also enhance the promotion of goodwill, with active efforts to promote human welfare. OUR BELIEFS: We believe that everyone is entitled to private sexual behavior, between consenting adults. We also believe that a straight spouse has the right to know of their gay or bisexual partners sexual orientation.
We believe that it is the right of every individual to be informed truthfully, so they can adequately protect themselves, or make other determinations pertaining to their ability or inability to function, in a relationship with an secret LGBT spouse. |
We also believe that it is not our place to judge, but rather to encourage, enlighten and support, those who reach out to us in need of support.
We sincerely believe that the teachings of the bible are true, and should not be ignored, and that each individual is responsible, and accountable to a higher power for their actions. OUR PURPOSE: To raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of straight spouses. To help straight spouses to be able to assist themselves and each other. To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of straight spouses, their families and the general community, by providing workshops, seminars and conferences, to continue the education, empowerment and support process through peer support via telephone, and email at this present time. We also plan to facilitate discussion and peer support groups via face to face, conference line support or via live chat on the Internet. To increase healing, we plan to increase visibility of straight spouse issues, and accessibility to support by empowering straight spouses to cope constructively. We want to help keep a healthy, open dialogue especially between spouses with children, with families, and with the larger community through support, education, advocacy and community involvement, and church outreach.
