THE WOMAN BEHIND SOUTH FLORIDA CONNECTS: "No Spouse Left Behind: Straight Spouse Awareness". Debbie is a professional woman who got tired of hearing the sad stories of friends and acquaintances, and even strangers about their suspicion or confirmation of the deceptive, secretive, same sex lifestyle of their husbands, wives and significant others.
"When I found out that I was a straight spouse and nearly married a bi-sexual man I felt very alone as there was no support for immigrant straight spouses. There was very little information available but nothing that addressed my cultural and religious needs. It was a very difficult and shameful time and nothing helped. I also found out that this was not just 'my problem', but the problem facing many other immigrant women.
So I decided to do something to help those affected by the deception, lies, and narcissistic behavior of the men and women who claim to love them.
I received a call from a distraught acquaintance some time ago, and my daughter overheard my end of the conversation. As I listened to what my daughter had to say afterwards, I realized just how close I had come, to been is a situation like the woman I had just spoken to on the phone.
I was distressed and I remember my daughter's words, "Mom do something before you go crazy." God has decided to use me to help his hurting people, so here am I. He let it come to me so I could understand it through experience. I would never understand it or be able to help anyone living it if the phenomenon was not part of my own life experience."
